Back to basics

In an effort to improve my energy levels and shed some pounds, I joined SparkPeople last week. I figure monitoring my caloric intake for a little while will help me get back on track. I’ve been feeling rather run down for a while now. I think a lot of it has to do with my poor nutrition as of late. Winter and crappy weather in general is not conducive to healthy eating. Now with the onslaught of spring, it’s time to get my old self back.

Thanks to the Huskers, my commitment to running has been renewed. All my runs in the past couple of weeks have been easy runs and that’s fine for right now. I don’t want to break this still fragile habit by putting excessive demands on it, but in time I will incorporate some speedwork back into my plan and get to work shaving my 5K.

So two runs down, two to go this weekend. If you don’t already know, X-C2 and I have joined forces in order to take down the cocky sandbagging b@stard that is the Razz. In the words of Cotton McKnight from Dodgeball, “Looks like it’s gonna be a two-on-one menage-a-trois of pain.” Er, or something like that.

All right, folks, that’s it for me. Have a great weekend.

Winter is not good for anything, so the intake of extra kcals is very understandable. Still, I know what you mean (Australian Hand Made ice-cream is BAD no matter how far you run).

As long as you two are not on the receiving end of the menage a trois, you should be ok.

I need to put "the" in front of my name more. Thanks!

I'm right there with you on needing to monitor the calories and get back in gear for spring. Have a great weekend.

Now with the onslaught of spring ...

Wow! Spring actually onslaughts you there in England? F*cking Brits with their Juvenile Delinquent weather fronts!

Here in Joisey, all Spring does is gently and lovingly knee you in the groin.

But Summer?

Hits you with a VENGEANCE here in NJ. Carnage everywhere. That's when most of the weather-related body dumps happen up in the Meadowlands, no disrespect, knowwhatimsayin?

Warm weather makes everything a little easier-- I also find just having the extra sunlight gives me energy. Hopefully it's the same for you. Have a great weekend!

Nothing makes me happier than the two of you ganging up on the Razz. Hee hee

Yeah but Razz notice how it's a lowercase "the" :P You poor thing HAHAHA

You will clearly "razzdoodle" the sh*t out of the Razz. He's probably not watching HIS caloric intake...

haha, i hope you take down the razz. dodgeball quote is priceless!

I'm with Glaven on this one. "Onslaught?"
I'd love for Spring to provide an onslaught. It's scheduled to snow here tomorrow. Wonnnnnderful.

Sparkpeople. I remember that site. It's free, so in my addled brain I figured it wasn't worth anything.

:)

Nah. It's a good site, and good luck on the challenge!

It's always a great post when you can incorporate a line from Dodgeball.

Oh, and be careful with the calorie counting. I get a little obsessed when I do it and it turns into something not so healthy. Fill up on the good calories. Runners need them to get muscle.

I second what carpe said. It's good to know calorie counting, but don't fixate on the numbers. I've seen too many patients get on the wrong side of things by being all obsessive about it. Remember that the content is just as important as the calories.

Like all the others I'm also waiting for the onslaught of spring...

I like how snarky this post was. And the Dodgeball reference. Well played.

Definitely keep taking it easy. I'm of the same mind that you don't want to do too much before you actually DO want to do more. If that makes sense.

'Tis that wonderful time of year when it's time to emerge from hibernation. My kids are definitely ready - their energy levels lately are INSANE.

As for MY poor nutrition - it's why I run :)

Menage a trois is good (the pain part I'm not so sure about - but to each her own, eh?) Good luck with the calorie counting and welcoming Spring.

Good luck with the weight loss and getting back on track. I'm right there with you.

And you and XC-2 are definitely gonna take the Razz.

To answer the question you posed at Nic's:

You are pneumatic because you yourself claimed to be over at carpeviam's blog.

pneumatic |n(y)oōˈmatik|
adjective
1 containing or operated by air or gas under pressure.
• Zoology (chiefly of cavities in the bones of birds) containing air.
• informal (of certain body parts, esp. a woman’s breasts) large, as if inflated : she’s the one with the pneumatic lips and breasts.
• informal (of a woman) having large breasts : Lee and his pneumatic wife.
2 of or relating to the spirit.

Possibly what I meant by it was that You Are Very Spiritual.

Keep telling yourself that.

So from now on, to ME at least, you are Teh Pneumatic Xenia.

Also: Tang, 'tang ... what's the dif? Everyone knows the former is made with some freeze-dried powder of the latter. That's what gives it its tang.

I use Sparkpeople, I'm RunForLife3 if you want to be buddies (though I have no idea what that means exactly, haha.)

You may be shaving your 5K, but I am shaving my legs - this is the surest sign of spring around. The removal of that much leg hair can only mean that winter is FINALLY over. 68F here today!!!

What is this calorie of which you speak? :-)

Good luck chica -- I need to lose some of this too :-).

I love that line from Dodgeball! I should start inserting it in daily conversation.

I definitely need to get back into running. I have been slacking!

I used sparkpeople for a solid 2 months or so, but really love daily plate's food tracker, so I switched.

I hope it makes a great difference for you!!

Good job getting back on the running hardcore saddle!
