Death of the Dinosaurs

You don't know how freaking happy I am that I no longer have to research dinosaur images. Also, there will be a long and hopefully permanent hiatus on me posting my 3-things again. I think we're all bored enough with that crap. You shouldn't have to endure my daily work tedium. Just my tedious blog posts. Well, you will have to deal with a wrap-up post about this entire experiment at some point, but I'll try to make it brief.

Dino Days will be ending much as they began--with the shameless bashing of the T-Rex...after my (final) three-things list, that is. Enjoy.

Wednesday's woes:
1 - Exercise, any form.
2 - Keep editing Chapter 9.
3 - Track down excavation reports. (Some really old ones.)
UPDATE: Two out of three ain't bad. It's not good either.

If you have any difficulty viewing this first big-ass image, click here.

So that's why he's so angry.

I'm nothing if not a classy broad.

Keep your receipt

I spent the entire morning dealing with my vacuum which decided to die on me last night. A-hole hoover. Unfortunately, I didn't keep my receipt, but the awesome people at Argos were fabulous and let me exchange it anyway. I love them. This whole ordeal definitely counts as one of my three things for the day.

Tuesday's things:
1 - Exercise, any form.
2 - Exchange vacuum.
3 - Edit Chapter 9.
UPDATE: One fail and two checks. To hell with it. I'm doing the dishes and going to bed early instead.

Here are a few extra dino images for your continued amusement.

I might have to try this one day.

Tomorrow is the last dino day. And we're going out with a bang. Heh.

Rockin' it Europe-style

You're hearing this in your head right now, aren't you?

We're in the home stretch of dino month. WEE! A couple of you sad lovely people have expressed a wish that I continue to post dinosaur images after February. Short answer: no. Long answer: hell no. I pretty much scraped the bottom of the barrel with what I posted. Trust me, there's nothing more to post. At least nothing that passes my exacting standards. And we all know how low those are. 'Nuff said.

Monday's stuff:
1 - Exercise. Any form.
2 - Sort out broadband issue between service provider and landlord.
3 - Read article.
UPDATE: Fail, check and check. Meh.

Sunny Sunday

A variant of an image I've posted before, but no less funny. At least to me.

It's an absolutely gorgeous day today. Much like yesterday. I definitely need to get outside, but first I'm airing out the apartment and tidying up a bit.

Sunday's stuff:
1 - Walk or any other form of exercise.
2 - Do the laundry.
3 - Unclog the shower drain.
UPDATE: All done.

Saturday, 25 February 2012

A good day

I didn't get a chance to post before I left this morning. My three things for the day have already been completed, but here they are anyway. It was a fun day. Maybe I'll post pics some time.

Saturday's things:
1 - Walk.
2 - Sightsee.
3 - Do the weekly shopping.
UPDATE: All done.

Friday, 24 February 2012

February's last Friday

Poor bastard.

Friday's things:
1 - Just walking. My boobs hurt today so I'm not doing anything more strenuous.
2 - Take notes from book.
3 - Vacuum.
UPDATE: Two out of three. Didn't have time to take notes. Poopsicles.

And here's some wisdom for your weekend:
Later gators.

Tea time

I'm stuck in a meeting for most of the day and have an appointment in the early evening, so I'm taking it easy with my three things. Suck it, haters.

Thursday's things:
1 - Walk, run, cycle, Shred or anything else that constitutes exercise.
2 - Proofread a recently edited bit of the TTSNBN.
3 -Take out the rubbish and recycling. (I've put it off way too long.)
UPDATE: Check x3.

Food Tea for thought:
Enjoy your Thursday.

Wednesday, 22 February 2012

I'm feeling very muddled today. Does not bode well for productivity.

Hump Day's happenings:
1 - Walk, run, cycle, Shred or anything remotely athletic.
2 - Organize bibliography files.
3 - Prep work for meeting tomorrow.
UPDATE: Check x3. Since it was pissing it down today, I decided to do 500 jumping jacks for my exercise. Yeah, I don't know why either.

Another gift for you--sage advice.
Happy Wednesday.

Work it

Tuesday's three:
1 - Walk (or something more energetic if I have the time).
2 - Consolidate files.
3 - Scan book.
UPDATE: Check x3. Even got in over three miles of walking. Anything else I get done today is gravy. YEAAHHHH!

And I'm posting this because it's true:

I always get the WTF side-eye from people on the escalator when I take the stairs, even in England. The hell, people.

Source: here

There's only nine more days (and nine more dino pics) until the end of the month. Savor them and the infliction of my daily tedium on you while you can.

Monday's must-do's:
1 - Run 2 miles.
2 - More data table misery.
3 - Scan the hell out of a book. (It's old, in a foreign language and never going to be reprinted which I believe overrides any possible copyrights issues. Just go with me on this.) Scratch that. The person who owns the book isn't coming into work today so I can't scan the stupid thing. Bah. So the new #3 task is to compile more bibliography. One can never have enough bibliography.
UPDATE: Check x3.

On a unrelated note, I managed to hem two pairs of jeans yesterday using this tutorial. Regular jeans tend to be a touch too long for my legs while petit jeans make me look like I'm wearing capris, hence the need for hemming. It didn't take that long to do and involved only a minimum of swearing and the sacrifice of one sewing machine needle. Well worth it, in my opinion.

Sunday, 19 February 2012

Sunday's stuff:
1 - Walk, run or Shred.
2 - Source bibliography I compiled yesterday.
3 - Do laundry.
UPDATE: Success x3.

Saturday, 18 February 2012

Another day

Sounds legit to me.

Saturday's shit:
1 - Walk for one hour.
2 - Do the weekly shop.
3 - Compile bibliography.
UPDATE: Success x3.

Try not to be jealous of the rocking day I'm having.

Friday, 17 February 2012

Yes, it does.

Late posting again. But I've been working all day, so whatever.

Friday's three:
1 - Walk for 30 minutes
2 - Work on catalogue spreadsheet.
3 - Catch up on my personal finance bookkeeping.
UPDATE: Check x3. Woo.

And here's a little bit of funny for your weekend...unless you're Australian.
Happy weekend, everyone.

A present for you

Hola, amigos!

I'm running late again with posting. Eh, at least I'm working.

Thursday's things:
1 - walk 30 minutes.
2 - edit one of the many half-assedly written parts of chapter 8.
3 - work on the monograph outline and bibliography some more.
UPDATE: Done x3.

As an added bonus, I'm posting this image because it had me laughing for fifteen minutes straight yesterday.
You're welcome.

Wednesday, 15 February 2012

Do you watch?

My vote goes to the zombies.

For Wednesday:
1 - Walk or something more energetic if I can be bothered.
2 - Edit section 8.2.1.
3 - Work on monograph outline.
UPDATE: Done x3.

After having not watched tv in the longest time, I've finally bothered to watch three different series recently: BBC's Sherlock, Game of Thrones and Once Upon a Time. The Sherlock series is fantastic and I think Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were very well cast. I just wish there were more than three episodes in a season. Game of Thrones is very entertaining, though I wish they'd tone it done on the gratuitous sex scenes. It is an HBO show though, so I guess it's to be expected. Once Upon a Time would be more interesting if they didn't dumb it down and drag out the storyline so much. I think most shows would be better if a season was about 10-12 episodes long as opposed to the US standard 22 episodes - it would cut out all those filler episodes which just make you feel like you've wasted an hour of your life watching something that's added absolutely nothing to the storyline.

Do any of you watch these shows? What are your thoughts?

Tuesday, 14 February 2012

I'm really not very good with the exercise portion of this deal. I guess that's why I keep making it one of my three things--I'll get annoyed with my frequent failures and finally do something about. That's the theory anyway.

Tuesday's to-do:
1 - Eat my body weight in chocolate. Walk for 30 minutes.
2 - Edit section 8.1.
3 - Confirm and then email conference information.
UPDATE: Check, check and check. Except for the chocolate unfortunately.

Well, it's Valentine's Day. My favorite card is still the one I posted last year. However I'm quite fond of this iPhone valentine I stumbled upon recently:
It's the only reason I'd want to get an iPhone.

Consider this your valentine's card from me. You're all appreciative, I can tell.

IMAGE UPDATE: I've reloaded the whale pic and the dino pic in the last post. If you still can't see them, then you're probably Canadian. Not a slur, just a fact since the only two people to mention not being able to see some of the images are in fact Canadian.

Monday, 13 February 2012

Odd combos

Philosoraptor is wise.

I feel very not with it lately. Probably has to do with all the stacks of paper everywhere that are not in any semblance of order. Probably should do something about that.

Monday's must-do's:
1 - Walk, run or Shred.
2 - Sort and file TTSNBN paperwork.
3 - Revamp research timetable for next four weeks.
UPDATE: Fail, check and check. Shit.

These posts are hella boring. To be expected, of course, but hella boring nonetheless.

So check out this:
Art in a toilet paper roll.

These loo roll dioramas are made by artist Anastassia Elias. Check out more on her website. So what kind of funky non-traditional art (either medium or subject) do you like? And please god don't say it's the Duchamp urinal.

End of an era

If dinosaurs had Twitter.

Sad news yesterday about Whitney Houston passing away. Her music was a big part of my childhood, more so even for my sister who had all her tapes. And Whitney was only 48 years old. Crikey.

I need another easy day for the weekend, hence today's non-strenuous things-list.

Sunday's three things
1 -Walk for 30 minutes
2 - do laundry
3 - vacuum
UPDATE: Done x 3. Now to figure out which things to accomplish tomorrow.

Saturday, 11 February 2012

Easy does it

It's the weekend. I need a non-stressful day.

Saturday's three things:
1 - work on wall art projects
2 - make vat of turkey chili
3 - Skype with my sister as she goes wedding dress shopping with our mother and respective bffs in NYC
UPDATE: Success x 3. Z found the dress! She cried. Thankfully there were people there to hug her for me. Sometimes it really does suck being so far away.

Happy a fun and relaxing Saturday, everyone.

F*cktard Friday

I really hate people. Not that you guys don't already know this about me, but I thought it was worth mentioning again anyway. I did my shopping earlier today to avoid the weekend crowds and I still managed to end up in F*cktard Central. No courtesy, no common sense and, most of all, no respect for the space bubble. If I can hear you breathe and tell what you had for lunch, you're standing too close. Just FYI.

Most of my to-do stuff for today is already completed, but I'll post it anyway.

Friday's things:
1 - Walk for one hour
2 - Sort out what's left to edit in chapters 8-10.
3 - Sort out registration and travels plans for next month's conference.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Thursday, 9 February 2012

Lip service

 Just one question...WHY?!?

Still busy. Need more focus. Could definitely use more sleep and less faffing about. Not my strong suit sadly.

Case in point, did you know this font type is called Trebuchet?

Thursday's things:
1 - Walk for 30 minutes.
2 - organize the TTSNBN papers, books, etc that have sprawled all over my living room.
3 - add 50 more entries to the catalogue spreadsheet

UPDATE: Yes, yes and pretty much yes. The database crashed so I couldn't finish all 50 entries. But I don't control the database, therefore this still counts for me.

Wednesday, 8 February 2012

I'm running behind today, hence the late posting. Yesterday's three things were completed, but I still need to finish Monday's leftover crap today. Blegh.

Also, I'm still sore as hell. My back is sore from yesterday's massage and my butt and thighs are still cranky from doing 30 Day Shred on Monday. It was a freaking twenty minute workout for pete's sake. How pathetic is my fitness level right now.

Anyway, here's Wednesday's woes:
1 - 30 Day Shred
2 - edit tables in Appendix 1.2
3 - add 50 more entries to catalogue spreadsheet
UPDATE: Fail, check and check. Two out of three ain't bad, right?

P.S. - I recently came across this set of videos on YouTube. Hysterical if you're amused by this sort of thing. FYI, the audio is NSFW. This is the first video. The subsequent ones are even funnier.

Tuesday, 7 February 2012

Dun-dun dun-dun

Uh oh.

So yesterday was a bust work-wise. My first fail--two in fact. If I cock up more than six additional list items in the next three weeks then I won't be earning my reward for the month. Balls. On top of my three things for today, I'm paying penance and will make up the work from yesterday as well. And all before my massage after work today when the nice masseuse beats the ever-loving hell out of my knotted-up back.

Yesterday's first ever attempt with 30 Day Shred has already left me sore in the butt and inner thigh area. (There's plenty of inappropriate jokes to be made here but I don't have time so just assume I've made one.) It's a good workout though so I hope to do it at least twice a week for the rest of the month.

Last night I had a frustrating running dream. A reoccuring one in fact but which I've not had in a while. I dream I show up late to a race and spend my entire time trying to find and stay on the course to finish it, but I'm never successful. It drives me nuts.

All right, enough of the bitching. Time to get to it.

Tuesday's to-do:
1 - Walk 30 minutes.
2 - edit tables in Appendix 1.2
3 - Add 50 more entries to catalogue spreadsheet.
UPDATE: Done, done and done. Still need to finish the leftovers from yesterday though.

Carrier monkey Monday

I imagine some of you tied one on last night. Apparently so did Barney. Lushes.

Since Friday afternoon I've been dealing with a monster cold sore (second one in three months) that's camped out on the corner of my mouth. I of course continue to look all kinds of hot, now just with that added air of infectious skank about me. Perhaps I should work from home today.

Monday's 3:
1 - Run 2 miles OR 30 Day Shred DVD
2 - Edit section 8.2.2.
3 - flesh out monograph outline

UPDATE: Yes (30 Day Shred), nope and nope. Poopsicles.

Sunday, 5 February 2012

Party on

I hear that today is the Super Bowl. I look forward to the seeing the highlights tomorrow on the web. And I of course am referring to the commercials. Though I am also keen to know how Madonna's half-time show goes. And the puppies too. Everything but the game really which I think is normal now for most people who watch it.

Sunday's stuff:
1 - Walk for 30 minutes.
2 - Re-write section 9.1.1. (No, that's not a typo.)
3 - Vacuum. (This is to shame joyRuN.)
UPDATE: Check x 3. I even did laundry, cleaned the kitchen AND did the weekly grocery shop. How much do you want to hit me right now, Joy?

Saturday, 4 February 2012

How sad is it that when I look at this image, all I can think is 'C is for cookie and cookie is for me'.

1 - Run two miles OR do an exercise DVD. (It's the weekend. I deserve some choice.)
2 - Outline the mess that is section 9.1.
3 - Research vacuums so I can buy one tomorrow.
UPDATE: All three completed. I did a pilates DVD. Pilates is awkward as arse to do while trying to crane your head to see the screen for proper instruction. Won't be trying that DVD again for a while.

Epic Saturday. Try not to be jealous, mkay.

Friday, 3 February 2012

Journey to the center of nerdom

I'm off to Nerdtown for the day to use their library which is a thousand times better than the one at Port Nerd U. There's no freaking way I won't accomplish my three things today (barring natural disaster, transportation strike or free doughnuts) but I'll post them anyway. Gotta keep to the plan.

Friday's things:
1 - Walk 30 minutes. (This will be taken care of with the minimum 4 miles I'll get in with walking to and from the train stations.)
2 - Check TTSNBN references. (I'll only get through a fraction of them, but better something than nothing.)
3 - Begin identifying catalogue items. (Epigraphy and I have a somewhat tenuous relationship. We'll see who gets the upper hand today.)
UPDATE: Check, check and check.

Happy weekend, everyone.

Thursday, 2 February 2012

Another 2 miles yesterday. Actually it was 2.6. I know, I'm a wild woman. But not as wild as Mr. T apparently.

Thursday's things:
1 - Walk 30 minutes.
2 - Re-write section 8.2 (I need a break from the tables. My TTSNBN has about 300 of them in the main text alone. That number doesn't include the two appendices which are all tables as well. My head hurts.)
3 - add 50 more entries to catalogue spreadsheet (I'm currently at the halfway point, at least for the stuff that's already been put on the server.)

UPDATE: Check, check and check. Huzzah.

Wednesday, 1 February 2012

This is happening.

After unintentionally posting dinosaur images the last two days, Viper has challenged me to post a dino pic in each of my daily blog posts this month. Twenty-nine days of daily activities, dinosaurs and reinforcing the irritatingly common misconception that archaeologists dig up dinosaur bones.

Challenge accepted.

Wednesday’s agenda:
1 – run 2 miles
2 – format and edit tables in section 8.2 (yes, again. There are a LOT of tables, people.)
3 – add 50 more entries to catalogue spreadsheet (Don’t say it.)

Sweet lord, the monotony.

UPDATE: Yup, yup and yup. Woo.
