Death of the Dinosaurs

You don't know how freaking happy I am that I no longer have to research dinosaur images. Also, there will be a long and hopefully permanent hiatus on me posting my 3-things again. I think we're all bored enough with that crap. You shouldn't have to endure my daily work tedium. Just my tedious blog posts. Well, you will have to deal with a wrap-up post about this entire experiment at some point, but I'll try to make it brief.

Dino Days will be ending much as they began--with the shameless bashing of the T-Rex...after my (final) three-things list, that is. Enjoy.

Wednesday's woes:

2 - Keep editing Chapter 9.

3 - Track down excavation reports. (Some really old ones.)

I spent the entire morning dealing with my vacuum which decided to die on me last night. A-hole hoover. Unfortunately, I didn't keep my receipt, but the awesome people at Argos were fabulous and let me exchange it anyway. I love them. This whole ordeal definitely counts as one of my three things for the day.

3 - Edit Chapter 9.

I pretty much scraped the bottom of the barrel with what I posted. Trust me, there's nothing more to post. At least nothing that passes my exacting standards. And we all know how low those are. 'Nuff said.

1 - Run 2 miles.

2 - More data table misery.

3 - Scan the hell out of a book. (It's old, in a foreign language and never going to be reprinted which I believe overrides any possible copyrights issues. Just go with me on this.) Scratch that. The person who owns the book isn't coming into work today so I can't scan the stupid thing. Bah. So the new #3 task is to compile more bibliography. One can never have enough bibliography.

On a unrelated note, I managed to hem two pairs of jeans yesterday using this tutorial. Regular jeans tend to be a touch too long for my legs while petit jeans make me look like I'm wearing capris, hence the need for hemming. It didn't take that long to do and involved only a minimum of swearing and the sacrifice of one sewing machine needle. Well worth it, in my opinion.

After having not watched tv in the longest time, I've finally bothered to watch three different series recently: BBC's Sherlock, Game of Thrones and Once Upon a Time. The Sherlock series is fantastic and I think Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were very well cast. I just wish there were more than three episodes in a season. Game of Thrones is very entertaining, though I wish they'd tone it done on the gratuitous sex scenes. It is an HBO show though, so I guess it's to be expected. Once Upon a Time would be more interesting if they didn't dumb it down and drag out the storyline so much. I think most shows would be better if a season was about 10-12 episodes long as opposed to the US standard 22 episodes - it would cut out all those filler episodes which just make you feel like you've wasted an hour of your life watching something that's added absolutely nothing to the storyline.

Do any of you watch these shows? What are your thoughts?

I'm really not very good with the exercise portion of this deal. I guess that's why I keep making it one of my three things--I'll get annoyed with my frequent failures and finally do something about. That's the theory anyway.

Sad news yesterday about Whitney Houston passing away. Her music was a big part of my childhood, more so even for my sister who had all her tapes. And Whitney was only 48 years old. Crikey.

I need another easy day for the weekend, hence today's non-strenuous things-list.

I really hate people. Not that you guys don't already know this about me, but I thought it was worth mentioning again anyway. I did my shopping earlier today to avoid the weekend crowds and I still managed to end up in F*cktard Central. No courtesy, no common sense and, most of all, no respect for the space bubble. If I can hear you breathe and tell what you had for lunch, you're standing too close. Just FYI.

Most of my to-do stuff for today is already completed, but I'll post it anyway.

I'm running behind today, hence the late posting. Yesterday's three things were completed, but I still need to finish Monday's leftover crap today. Blegh.

Also, I'm still sore as hell. My back is sore from yesterday's massage and my butt and thighs are still cranky from doing 30 Day Shred on Monday. It was a freaking twenty minute workout for pete's sake. How pathetic is my fitness level right now.

Dun-dun dun-dun

Uh oh.

So yesterday was a bust work-wise. My first fail--two in fact. If I cock up more than six additional list items in the next three weeks then I won't be earning my reward for the month. Balls. On top of my three things for today, I'm paying penance and will make up the work from yesterday as well. And all before my massage after work today when the nice masseuse beats the ever-loving hell out of my knotted-up back.

Yesterday's first ever attempt with 30 Day Shred has already left me sore in the butt and inner thigh area. (There's plenty of inappropriate jokes to be made here but I don't have time so just assume I've made one.) It's a good workout though so I hope to do it at least twice a week for the rest of the month.

Last night I had a frustrating running dream. A reoccuring one in fact but which I've not had in a while. I dream I show up late to a race and spend my entire time trying to find and stay on the course to finish it, but I'm never successful. It drives me nuts.

All right, enough of the bitching. Time to get to it.

Carrier monkey Monday

I imagine some of you tied one on last night. Apparently so did Barney. Lushes.

Since Friday afternoon I've been dealing with a monster cold sore (second one in three months) that's camped out on the corner of my mouth. I of course continue to look all kinds of hot, now just with that added air of infectious skank about me. Perhaps I should work from home today.

Party on

I hear that today is the Super Bowl. I look forward to the seeing the highlights tomorrow on the web. And I of course am referring to the commercials. Though I am also keen to know how Madonna's half-time show goes. And the puppies too. Everything but the game really which I think is normal now for most people who watch it.

UPDATE: All three completed. I did a pilates DVD. Pilates is awkward as arse to do while trying to crane your head to see the screen for proper instruction. Won't be trying that DVD again for a while.

Journey to the center of nerdom

I'm off to Nerdtown for the day to use their library which is a thousand times better than the one at Port Nerd U. There's no freaking way I won't accomplish my three things today (barring natural disaster, transportation strike or free doughnuts) but I'll post them anyway. Gotta keep to the plan.

Friday's things:

1 - Walk 30 minutes. (This will be taken care of with the minimum 4 miles I'll get in with walking to and from the train stations.)

2 - Check TTSNBN references. (I'll only get through a fraction of them, but better something than nothing.)

3 - Begin identifying catalogue items. (Epigraphy and I have a somewhat tenuous relationship. We'll see who gets the upper hand today.)

Another 2 miles yesterday. Actually it was 2.6. I know, I'm a wild woman. But not as wild as Mr. T apparently.

2 - Re-write section 8.2 (I need a break from the tables. My TTSNBN has about 300 of them in the main text alone. That number doesn't include the two appendices which are all tables as well. My head hurts.)
