Stand down

Disregard the last post. Please.

Both the pain and my hysteria have subsided. I'm continuing with rest, ice (or frozen peas in my case) and ibuprofen as it's working pretty well.

Thanks for the comments and emails. Sorry I freaked you all out. This is why I shouldn't post on the weekends. My logical/rational thought filter only works Monday to Friday.

I was going to suggest some "Vitamin I" (as GG calls it). Ibuprofen seems much more helpful than aspirin for reducing inflammation and suchlike.

(And where is it written in stone that you have to run the whole way if you're injured? I don't see that written anywhere.)

First long charity bike ride I went on, just the 'crowd high' of being around so many people with the same goal made it feel a bit like a party. That excitement helped carry me through the steeper hills.

Good, I'm glad.

You still shouldn't disregard my last comment though. It only further accentuates how common phantom pains are during the taper period.

It's getting close...have fun.

Awwwhhh girl don't even sweat it! It's funny how things pop up here and there during taper.

2 weeks is nothing. You'll be FINE. I missed 2 weeks of training and ran. You can too ;-)

Every taper deserves a good freak out. Now channel that energy to resting and recovering then the race.

Glad to hear you're feeling better! I've totally been guilty of focusing on my aches & pains the past two weeks. I had a little pain under my left foot yesterday & was begging dearhub to carry me through the rest of the expo. He looked at me like the hysterical loser I am.

You mean those peas sacrificed their yummy ... um ... pea-ness for NOTHING?!?

You monster!

Glad to hear you're feeling better about the aches. Still, take it easy on yourself, sister!
